Tennis was one of the original sports at the Athens Olympics of 1896. It was later dropped from the games but reintroduced at the Seoul 1988 Olympics.

The venue for the Olympics in London will be the world famous All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon in South West London.

There are four medals awarded for the tennis event.

Mens - Nadal (Spain)
Womens - Dementieva (Russia)
Womens Doubles - Williams, Williams (USA)
Mens Doubles - Federer, Wawrinka (Switzerland)
