There will be a total of almost 8 million tickets will be available for the Olympic Games, with another 1.5m available for the Paralympic Games. Tickets for both events will go on sale from 2011 and will stay on sale until sold out or until the start of each event.

Information about how to buy tickets will be announced nearer the time. It is intended that tickets will be reasonably priced to ensure maximum take up. Each ticket will also include free travel on public transport in London for the day the ticket is valid for, to encourage spectators to use the transport system and see other London sites.

Some events will be free such as the Road Cycling, Triathlon and Marathon which will take place on the streets of London.
